BSK 1933 has 'not a good day' – and still beats SG Reichenau 4:1

On Saturday evening, BSK 1933 once again impressively demonstrated its quality despite a difficult starting position. Although the team, as assistant coach Oleks Safonov put it, “did not have a good day,” they ultimately deservedly won 4:1 against SG Reichenau – celebrating their third consecutive league victory and, including the cup, already the fourth full success in a row. Especially impressive: in these four games, BSK scored 17 goals and conceded only one – a record that makes you want more.

Weak signs – early lead for Reichenau
The guests from Reichenau started very engaged against the strongly weakened Pongau team (six regular players were missing or initially on the bench due to health reasons and minimal training this week) and went deservedly ahead after a set-piece situation through Sefik Abali (16th minute).

But the hosts struck back: within eight minutes, captain Elias Kirchler turned the game around with two coldly converted penalties (36th, 44th) before halftime.

High tension after the break
After the break, substitute Bleonard Muslija missed a great chance to make it 3:1 when he stood alone in front of the keeper after a great solo run but missed. On the other side, BSK goalkeeper Alexander Hildebrandt (a cooperation player from FC Liefering) had to make several strong saves to hold the lead against pressure from Reichenau.

The home win was hanging by a thread – but in stoppage time the attackers made things clear: reliable scorer Vitali Borsuk (92nd) and Mirnes Kahrimanovic (94th), who as a defensive midfielder already scored his third goal of the season, set the final score at 4:1.

Comments on the game
“In short – we were not good as a team today. But if you don’t have a good day against a strong Reichenau and still win 4:1, then it clearly shows the quality this squad has this year and how well our team is functioning now,” explained playing assistant coach Oleks Safonov.

Player-coach Jekabs Laguns added: “We deliberately refrained from some returnees like Bogdan Kuksenko or Said Llambay because we want to integrate them step by step. It was all the more important that the team showed character despite absences. I am convinced that we will improve and present ourselves very well as a team next week in Dornbirn. We are going there with a very good feeling and the clear goal of bringing three points home.”
